On November 17, 2023, JJ Miranda, associate professor of biology, was appointed a senior editor of Microbiology Spectrum, a journal of the American Society for Microbiology.
Miranda has served as an editor on the journal’s board since 2021, handling the peer review process for manuscripts submitted in the field of virology. The appointment to senior editor comes with leadership responsibilities, and the term lasts until 2028. Microbiology Spectrum publishes research papers in all broad fields of microbiology. Topics range from molecular biology to clinical epidemiology. Miranda’s research program itself has produced publications advancing our understanding of herpes, HPV, SARS-CoV-2, and influenza.
