Olivia Anastasio
Laboratory Specialist
Olivia Anastasio holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Conservation and Biology, as well as a Master’s degree in Biology, from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. She joined the Barnard community in 2020 as a Laboratory Technician working alongside Dr. Alison Pischedda. Olivia transitioned to a Laboratory Specialist position to further expand her student engagement and teaching opportunities. Olivia values the strong sense of community at Barnard, especially collaborating with her talented colleagues and supporting students as they grow throughout the semester and over the course of their academic careers. Outside of work, she enjoys practicing yoga, watching movies, and reading. A fun fact: she is currently pursuing an MPH in Epidemiology and Biostatistics—so if you’re interested in public health, she welcomes you to connect with her.
In The News
Despite the drastic changes to how research in Altschul has been conducted since last June, our laboratory technicians have been hard at work throughout the pandemic to help sustain productivity in our faculty labs alongside their PIs. Today, Olivia Anastasio, Lena Kogan (BC '19), Abby Ryckman (BC '18), and Nicole Rondeau (BC '18) join us to discuss what drives them as scientists and who they are outside of Altschul.
