
Rafael Marcondes

Dr. Marcondes is originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil, where he received BSc and MSc degrees from the University of Sao Paulo. Prior to joining Barnard in 2025, he obtained his PhD from Louisiana State University and was a faculty-fellow at Rice University in Houston, Texas. As an evolutionary biologist and ornithologist, Dr. Marcondes has centered his research on using birds as study systems to explore general questions in evolutionary biology, usually at a macroevolutionary scale and involving organismal phenotypes.
