Nick James joined the Barnard College Biology Department in July 2025 as the Laboratory Manager for the Resetarits Parasite Lab. Originally from western New York, he earned a Master’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University at Buffalo (UB). While at UB, he conducted research on aquatic invertebrate evolution and ecology under the mentorship of the late Dr. Scott Santos.

He came to Barnard following a position as a Research Specialist in the Campbell-Staton Lab at Princeton University, where he was part of a specialized team assembled by Dr. Shane Campbell-Staton to study rapid evolutionary responses in Anolis lizards living under the selective pressures of urban ecosystems.

His research interests include community ecology, population genetics, urban ecosystems, and evolution in the Anthropocene.
